Thoughts on build? (lemmy.world)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

Hello all. I'm wanting to build a solid 1440p / 144 hz gaming PC with the ability for hobby level streaming and productivity work. With that in mind , would the following components make sense to meet those needs/wants:

12600k

6700xt

MSI b760 mobo

32 gb of 3600 ddr4

VG27AQL1A monitor

What would you all recommend for the case (assuming my components make sense)? Also what wattage psu should I get since some of the cpus and GPUs run higher than their rating? I'd like to get an even beefier cpu but from what I've read air cooling won't cut it for a lot of them.

I'd opt for a Ryzen system over 12th gen intel now. Similar cost, more performance, less power usage & an upgrade path.

I've opted for a microaTX case / mobo as smaller builds are a personal preference of mine.

Thanks for this! I'm into a smaller build I just wasn't sure if I should because I read that it can be more difficult for noob PC builders.

This'll be fairly straight forward.

  • Case still has a PSU shroud to hide cable clutter.
  • I've opted for an m.2 SSD so you don't need to worry about cables to storage.
  • Air cooler isn't too big, so doesn't interfere with any other components.
  • GPU is 270mm, case has 320mm GPU clearance.

All in all, it's smaller than an ATX case, but still very easy to build in with the components above.

Went with your build. Should have everything by the end of the week. Thanks for the help :)
