Let's see what the next 48h are gonna bring... My guess? Not much, and we'll just keep moving forward. Screw them.

Schaun mer mal :) I just signed up with lemmy because it seems to be the nicest alternative.

I had a look at them all, and really wasn't overly convinced of any single one... But then my fellow mods from another sub voted for lemmy, and it already feels quite homely after a few days.

the look & feel is good. I appreciate being able to have a less buggy message editor than the reddit one, too :) here all my speçıal cháräctèrş are working as expected :)

Didn't they work on reddit? I used our German umlauts plus a bunch of Chinese characters here and there and that never gave me any trouble.

I am using the Linux compose-key (in my case mapped to the otherwise useless Windows key) to create special characters, and the reddit fancypants editor is somehow javascript-sabotaging the inputs that are made that way. E.g. compose key + , + c = ç - the special character is typed into the text window for an instant and then immediately deleted by some stupid javascript code, for god knows what reason. Creating a text elsewhere and copy-pasting works (in legacy editor, copy-paste really messes up the fancy pants editor window most of the time)

In coding-related subs you would often try to type the backtick (`) to start and end code blocks. The fancy-pants editor would just remove them.
