This may be an odd topic, but recently I've noticed quite a number of mouse/rodent themed games popping up. This is always excellent news in my unbiased opinion :3

I thought I'd mention some of them here.

--Currently available--

Small Saga - I've seen some gameplay of this online. From what I can tell, you play as a ragtag collection of rodents in turn based combat. The art style is cute, but I'm not yet sold on this one (I've got enough RPGs to play as it is!).

Of Mice and Sand - Somewhat reminiscent of SimTower or Fallout Shelter, you manage a desert crawler full of mice in order to survive against attacks and random events.

Backpack Hero - This is Resident Evil storage, the game. Your choice of what to pack and how you pack it determines your abilities in battle.

The Spirit and the Mouse - A charming 3D platformer in which the mouse protagonist has to power up a French village. Apparently it's quite short, but I love the design of the mouse and environment in this one.

Tails of Iron - In this grimdark souls-like side scroller you chop up frogs to regain your title upon the Rat Throne. I've been tempted to get this game on several occasions, but I've heard mixed things. If it's ever in a bundle I'll grab it!

--Upcoming--

Whiskerwood - A mouse themed city builder that's giving me Timberborn vibes. Sounds like you can eventually overcome your feline overlords? It remains to be seen if this game can set itself apart from the many other city builders out there.

Mina the Hollower - This is one I'm looking forward to! A 2D Zelda-like platformer made by the team behind Shovel Knight. I kickstarted this one a while ago now, and I'm pretty confident it's going to be great.

Mouse: PI for Hire - I've seen several trailers for this one over the last year. DOOM/Quake type gameplay by the looks of it, but with a really neat 30s cartoon style.

Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo - Ok this might be cheating a bit, as apparently the protagonist is a bat. But they're kinda 'rodent adjacent', right?? I love the look of the cute pixel art here with really colourful and expressive animals. Again, it seems like a 2D Zelda but perhaps with more of a platforming element. Is top down 2D platforming a thing? There's a demo that I should really try out!

Have you played any of these or do you have any interest in the upcoming ones I mentioned? Let me know :3

Stumbled upon this game and had fun with the demo. Might be up some people's alley.

I was a bit of a console kid in the late '80s to early '90s. So their are plenty of games I missed on PC. I'm going to throw out the old games as I play them on my list for two reasons. One to promote older forgotten games, and to clear my back log of games.

This week I started playing a game I had never heard of Inherit the Earth: Quest for the Orb. It's a point and click game, so if it's not your style that's fine. You play as Rif of the fox tribe trying to solve the mystery of the missing orb.

I haven't completed it yet, but I'm a decent ways in. I just got the item from the observatory. I'm trying to be discreet to not spoil anything. When I was young I was a big fan of all Myst games, so this game has been a joy to me.

If anyone has any other recommendations for adventure games let me know please.

I've tried to love Itch, EGS and GOG, but the thing that keeps me coming back to Steam is the ability to say "No, I'm not going to play that, stop showing it". The other stores shove unwanted ads in my face every time I visit, and it's always for the same old games I have no interest in. Steam helps me on my quest to find the diamonds in the rough, and every time I check the front page I usually see 5+ games that I'd consider playing.

Anyone else feel game shops should do more to help us find the right games? What's your strategy for finding good games with so much trash out there?

Currently downloading the game to my phone. I have never played this particular Diablo, but I have played the first 3 very much. I'm going into this with open eyes and an optimistic mind.

Now I have no intention of purchasing anything. My goal is to see how far I can get into this game before it either stuck behind a pay wall or it becomes an insurmountable grind.

Those that have played it, how far into it did you get before you put it down?

Any games with animal people in it that you want to talk about? Either as a recommendation, or as a "look at this interesting thing"?

For me, I've been playing three games recently:

  • Tunic: An adorable zelda/soulslike hybrid that looks adorable. It also captures a unique sense of retro and nostalgia that I haven't felt before. Would recommend, and worth going into it blind.
  • Super Lesbian Animal RPG: I know it's not really aimed at me, but I've been enjoying it. It feels very genuine and doesn't take itself too seriously. So far, anyway.
  • Friends vs Friends: An online arena shooter/deckbuilder game. Pretty fun, although I'm not good at it yet. Not yet sure how P2W it is though.

Basically what game could you replay and never get bored of? For example I replay Legend of Zelda Link to the Past annually, because it's my favorite game of all time. I give myself different goals but I play it every year.

Just wondering if anyone saw anything that caught their eye.

I used to play Elite: Dangerous quite a bit. I liked exploring the best - most of my 2+ billion credits came from exploration data.

Welcome to videogames, this is intended to be a catch all community for anything videogames. While i am sure other communities will pop up about specific games, this one will always be all encompassing as a general discussion/media sharing board. I plan on making a banner and a logo to start out with, however I suck at things like that so it might take a while. I hope to grow this and make it a place that thrives!
