As the title says, welcome to SFFPC for Lemmy! Hosted on the sh.itjust.works instance, I'm hoping that this fills a small void by those who liked seeing, discussing, and sharing the small / medium builds that we see in the SFFPC community. Please feel free to post your builds and ask your questions!

So it's a SFF case meant for NAS use. It has 5 slide-in 3.5" drive bays and can only handle a low-profile PCIE card.

I'm thinking of picking one up and mangling it to force in a 2-slot GPU. I want to basically remove the drive bays and the PCB with the SATA slots, ditch the PSU frame, move the motherboard frame back or flip it around, and 3d print a new backplate for the case.

I'd stick the PSU where the drive bay used to be and run an extension to the back of the case, and then there should be room for a full-sized GPU mounted vertically in the case.

Do you think this would be achievable? Am I crazy for even thinking about it?

Now if only I could also fit an AIO in there.

EDIT: Link to the case - https://www.jonsbo.com/en/products/N1.html

I'm looking to rebuild an old midtower into a smaller enclosure. Does anyone have any experience or thoughts regarding sfftime p-atx or n-atx?

Just wanted to post to get some discussion going. Currently using a Sama IM01 style case so not too SFF. CPU is a 10105f with a 5600xt GPU. RAM is just 2666 8x2. I mostly do some gaming and sometimes Blender.

When I first started getting into SFF cases, I was in a rush to get the most affordable thing I could find, which ended up being the K39 + 500W Flex ATX PSU combo off Superbuy.

This ugly little white case showed up and I immediately disliked it. Since then, I've spray painted everything black, printed new grills and made a Thor Zone Borg style stand (since it didn't come with feet)

The graphics card fan crapped out on me a while ago as well, so I reprinted the shroud and zip-tied in the IS-60 fan that's controlled with Fan Control V159.

I've been waiting for the Superbuy branded PSU to crap out but it's holding strong after 2 years. If I had to do it again, I'd probably go with a Velka 3 or Densium 4. It's not the prettiest machine but I've put a lot of work into it to make it something I'm happy to have on my desk.

Specs:

  • CPU: Intel i9-9900K
  • Cooler: ID-Cooling IS-60, swapped fan for a Noctua
  • GPU: Gigabyte GTX 1050Ti, custom shroud with IS-60 cooling fan
  • RAM: 32 GB
  • PSU: Superbuy 500W Flex

As you can see, the included extension cord collides with the chosen cpu cooler. The other end of the cable looks like this.

So I need a 1ft c13 to c14 cable with two angled connectors. Not sure if the c14 side should be angled up or right.

Anyone know where I'd buy such a specific cable?

Looking forward to sharing pics of the finished product assembled with the case. I really just wanted to have at least one post in the community. Also, don't mind the scrapped up print bed. ๐Ÿ˜
