Hi guys,

i will change my Pioneer VSX 933 for new AVR but i can't make choice between 3 possibility :

  • Brand new Marantz Cinema 50 (1600€)

  • Brand new Denon X3800H (1200€)

  • Used Marantz SR7015 (1100€)

My actual setup 5.1.2 :

  • 2x Klipsch RP-8000F

  • 2x Klipsch RP-600M

  • 1x Klipsch RP-404C

  • 2x Onkyo SKH-410

  • 1x Klipsch R-120SW

In the futur i would like use the AVR like pre-amp with amp module for each speaker and add 8k TV. 7.2.4

What would be the best choice ?

hi guys I hope some one can help me out please, my Minidsp 2x4 HD just stop working after 4 or 5 years, so I need to get a new one, now I have 5 subs and I was considered the Minidsp Flex Eight but I'm confuse because I don't see any analog in, I only need it for subs, so how do I make this work like I do on my 2x4hd, thanks

Just bought some KEF Q150s for $250

I’m hoping for a basic budget setup for now, with space to expand years down the line. I plan on getting a subwoofer and maybe a center speaker in a couple months (any recs?).

I have a ~20x20 living room and currently am just running the TV speakers. Trash.

I plan on getting stands for the speakers, speaker wire, and I assume I either need an amp or a receiver. If the sub I get is powered, I guess I wouldn’t need the receiver and can just use an amp for the Q150s? Would an amp still allow a Center speaker a couple months down the line?

Any recommendations on which sub, amp or receiver to get? I saw the Aiyima T9 Pro and Wiin Amp both mentioned a few times. Is it better to get a receiver?

The media player will probably be the PS5, with main purpose for living room being movies, shows, and some gaming.

I own a Vizio m51ax-jx soundbar, as far as soundbars go I'm pretty happy with it. Besides the subwoofer

It's a tiny 5 inch, either 50 or 60 watt, 4ohm woofer. Its not the worst thing ever but it's far from what want.

Here's my crazy idea

Preface: have no clue what talking about, but if Im told it's possible, I can do it

Do you think could just get a new enclosure, new bigger woofer, upgrade the power supply, and move all the internals of the woofer to a new enclosure? Mind you, this sub controls the rear satellites and connects wirelessly to the soundbar.

I looked inside the woofer, doesn't seem like it would be hard to move the internals over, just don't know if it's possible from a power standpoint lol, like if there is anything on the boards that would need replacing. If I could just upgrade it's power supply then that seems easy enough.

A replacement woofer is only 50 bucks so I might just try it for the fun of it, although I've heard that you can't pair a replacement woofer to the soundbar because they are linked at the factory. But hey who knows.

If any of you have any thoughts, ideas, or just want to tell me how stupid I am for this then that'll be great.

Hi,

I'm moving into a new home, and I'll like to improve my TV installation sound wise. The TV is a Philips Smart TV (50PUS6554/12) with jack/HDMI ARC/Optical audio output.

The room is 3,45m deep and 10m wide. Only one third on the right will be the TV part, the rest is for dining.

Budget : 200 euros.

I do not want 5.1 or 7.1 installation due to loss of space (and the wife do not want cable running through the house).

I've look into facebook marketplace and selected a few offers in Belgium. All those are compiled in this spreadsheet : I'll update it eventually.

If anyone could take a look at this selection and make a recommendation, I'll be VERY grateful ! I really don't have a clue of what to buy.

Looking to buy a TV for my wife and I's bedroom. TV is on wall opposite of bed about 13ft away. We also both have desks on either side of our bed and we sometimes turn around our office chairs and watch TV from there - this is about 13ft away as well, but about 45 degrees off from center. We also sometimes roll an office chair in front of the TV to play games about 6 ft away from the TV and, on occasion, I will set up a small/budget racing sim setup directly in front of the TV to play Gran Turismo 7. We also have a pretty good Sony soundbar setup with a sub under the bed and rear channel speakers directly to the left and right of the head of the bed (in the corners of the room). Additionally, things are pretty good as far as glare, with only one window in the room to the side (so there isn't any glare directly from the window/outside shining on the screen). We also have blackout curtains that can make it completely dark in the room even in the middle of the day if we want to. We do enjoy watching movies deliberately and would like a high quality cinematic type experience on occasion, but we do also have the TV on and watching shows via streaming services casually throughout the day with the curtains open.

We use a Apple TV 4k to handle all our streaming services, a Nintendo Switch, and a PS5 that we also use for Blurays (although I am contemplating getting a nicer dedicated Bluray player eventually).

I don't want my budget to go over about $1600 and what I'm really stuck between right now is getting either a: 65 inch LG C3, 65 inch Sony A80L, 65 inch Samsung S90C, or a 75 inch x90l. (The 77" OLEDs are just still a little too pricey, and the 85 inch TVs LCDs are too large and not an option). I also really would like a TV that supports 120hz, so that when one of us plays PSVR the other can spectate while still allowing the VR headset to operate in 120hz mode. Another constraint I have is that, because I live on Maui in Hawaii, Costco is the only place I can really get any sort of decent TV from. Both Target and Walmart here only stock lower end TV models and none of the major online retailers (including Amazon) will ship larger TVs here anymore.

I'm currently learning towards the larger 75" x90l with the logic that the larger size will probably yield a better viewing experience than any of the smaller (though better image quality) 65" OLEDs. Also figuring since we are going to have it on a lot throughout the day, while also letting light in from outside, that a traditional LCD type TV will hold up better in the long run.

Any advise or insight would be greatly appreciated.

DTECH Powered 1 in 4 Out 3 RCA Splitter Box 4 Port AV Splitter 4 Way Composite Video Audio Distribution Amplifier with Power Adapter

I have powered full range speakers, one powered sub, a single audio out from my PC. So this totals to three 3.5mm jack connections (1 input, 2 output). I can use RCA to 3.5mm adapters where needed.

Setup:

  • This splitter has 3 RCA outputs. 1 for the front stereo speakers, 1 for the sub and 2 are unused.
  • PC audio output will go into splitter RCA input.
  • Looking to use a mono cable on one of the splitter's outputs so it physically merges left and right for the sub.
  • I'm mainly looking to isolate each splitter audio output so the front speakers stereo output remains as a stereo signal and the sub output stereo signal physically merges as a result of the mono cable.

I know there are mixers and DACs that do this kind of thing but I'm looking for a simple and cheap solution. SQ isn't a huge consideration here.

Currently i'm using a pretty new TCL TV and a pretty old Samsung soundbar.

What this means is that i have three remotes, one for the TV, one for the streaming box, one for the soundbar. My goal is to get this down to at least two remotes by controlling the soundbar with either the TV or the streaming box remote.

However, i have absolutely no idea what the best setup is, or how to do it. If i had a samsung TV it'd be easy, but does anyone know what some options are? Is it worth it to just.. use the TV speakers? Will the difference be all that much? Its a band new TCL TV which apparently has a built in subwoofer and all that stuff anyway.

As a second question, i'm looking at maybe upgrading the soundbar anyway to a surround sound system, but i can't put cables across the room - unfortunately - and i was wondering if all those wifi/bluetooth sound systems were any good?

Thanks!

I'm setting up a room for my sister when she comes up to visit later this year. She's not a gamer, so I have to put in a dedicated DVD player for her because she wants to raid my DVD collection. Does my DVD/VCR combo support progressive scan? It has component output which looks nice at 480i, but I'm using a replacement remote and was wondering if it was capable of doing 480p with its native remote.

She's not picky: she's the type to still use composite on a 4K TV, but I am and want to give her the best picture without having to buy a new player. It's a 32 inch Vizio 720p TV circa 2008. I suppose I could let her use my region-free DVD player with HDMI upscaling, but I'm also selfish and wanna keep that for my room for my Arrowverse crossover DVDs. My 4K Blu-ray player is in the living room, and all other disc players are game consoles.

Hey all. Recently purchased a secondhand Marantz SR5013 and wanted to ask a few questions/get tips before I go into setting it up. Got it to suit my music and TV needs. In an apartment so not getting a sub as of yet but will upgrade speakers in the future to floor standing.I will be running the following: Project Classic TT Project Tube preamp Whaefdale Evo 4.1 Klipsch RC42 II (guy threw it in for cheap with the avr hence why it isn't the same as the other speakers) Hisence 55 Inc TV.

I realised it doesn't come with the room correction mic. Should I source one first before setting up?

Is it worth factory reseting the avr before I start? Notice a YouTube video showing how to do it.

Not sure what other questions to ask but any help would be appreciated. Will also do my own research

Cheers

Looking for a simple setup in my studio apartment for both my TCL tv and playing music over airplay.

Since Yall are fancier than soundbars over in this sub I’ll be happy to take non-soundbar recommendations that can be built for less than $600.

Thanks.

So we ordered the LG G3 OLED for our living room and it should be coming in a few days. Our current AVR is the Onkyo NR-7100 and we stream using an Apple TV 4K and play on my PS4 and PS5. Im just wondering is it better to have devices connected to the Receiver’s HDMI ports or plug them into the TV HDMI ports? Or does it not matter since the G3 and the Onkyo has HDMI 2.1 for all ports? Thanks guys

I'm in the market to replace an old 1080p TV in the bedroom. 43" is the maximum size I can fit. I've been doing some shopping and of course, the local best buys don't have most of them plugged in so I can't really see for myself.

Is QLED worth it? It seems like its about twice the price vs non QLED and half the price of OLED (more than I want to spend for a bedroom.

Yamaha TSR700 ——> Marantz Cinema 40 ?

Klipsch RP500m x4, Klipsch 404 center, SVS pb2000 pro, SVS PB3000, a pair of micca M8 for atmos. 5.2.2 system for 90% movies Is the upgrade worth it? I mean a huge noticeable difference without Dirac? Just stumbled with an open box discount cheaper than a Denon X4800

Hey folks, been lurking for a little while and finally ready to dive in to this world! Planning a 5.1.2 setup in my living room, but I’m having some trouble deciding on which sub to go for and which brand of speakers.

For context, my living room is about 12 x 15 with 8 foot ceilings, but it is quite open to the dining room, hallway and kitchen. The room has a pretty modern looking white theme, so aesthetics / WAF are fairly important. Budget is about CAD $5k max, but would love to spend a bit less. Use case is about 80% movies, 20% music, although I’m expecting to play more music once we graduate past TV speakers (I know, I know - just moved into this house!). Planning to pair with a Denon avr-x1700h or avr-x1800h, depending on availability/sales.

For sub, I’m pretty sold on SVS. I love the look of the white SB-1000, but I’m worried it won’t be enough to fill the room of this size appropriately. The PB-1000 seems like it’d be a better fit, but only comes in the ash black finish :/. Would an SB-2000 fill this size room maybe? That at least comes in the black finish which could work.

For speakers I’m debating between two options.

On the one hand there’s the SVS Prime bookshelves, center, satellite, and elevations. Frustratingly the bookshelves and center don’t come in the white finish…but could consider the black or a mix of white and black.

On the other side I love the look of the white KEF Q series Q350 bookshelves, Q650c center, Q150 surrounds, and Q50a elevation. This option seems to be also about CAD $1000 less than the SVS.

Would the SVS subs match the KEF acoustically? Are the SVS speakers $1000 better than the KEF? Thanks in advance for the help! 🙏

buying home with home theater. All equipment including speakers to stay. I believe it was top of line stuff 15 years ago but not updated since.

Anything I should look for or do prior to moving in. My initial thought would be to use/ride it out

And I realize this is a general question without more information but looking yo see if there is anything simple I can do to improve it (new speaker wire, av system, etc)
